Since its incorporation in 1996, PK Murphy Construction Limited has established a very successful working relationship with the Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE). In partnership, we have completed more than one hundred projects, ranging from Multi-Element Improvement (MEI) Schemes to planned and response-based maintenance works – all of which are aimed at ensuring that everyone has access to a decent affordable home in a safe and healthy community.
We are currently undertaking our largest challenge to date, working with NIHE under the new EGAN style approach to planned maintenance. This is based on the EGAN principles whereby we will be working more closely with tenants to ensure a higher quality service and ‘zero defects’, something that PK Murphy Construction Ltd is confident it can deliver.
We are proud to have secured the contracts for two out of the five available areas within Northern Ireland, including the largest area, Belfast, and this will provide a solid base for us over the coming years.
The EGAN principles are based on a report, ‘Rethinking Construction’ on the United Kingdom’s Construction Industry by Sir John Egan in 1998. The report highlighted the need for the industry to rethink its approach to business on the basis of partnership working.
